Or, as we’ve been tracking here at State of the Debate throughout 2025: Happy Holidays, or simply the annual audit of everything we can no longer afford.

We are sitting in the final hours of the year, surrounded by the lights, the trees, and the festive spirit. But if you’re like me, you’ve probably noticed a certain hollowness beneath the tinsel.

This year, we’ve broken down some of the heaviest rifts in our social fabric… from the Fertility Crisis to the “London is Over” sentiment and the total collapse of the political establishment. But today, I’m connecting all those dots into one final picture for the year.
